Start with a document
PaperLock is a PDF workspace for iPhone and iPad, requiring iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. Tap Import a document on Home, or choose a tool and select a library PDF. Single-document tools open immediately; Merge lets you select and order multiple PDFs.
Ten tools cover everyday paperwork: scan to PDF, merge, split/extract, organize pages, compress, redact, sign, password lock, unlock, and flatten. Locked inputs prompt for their current document-open password inside any tool. Each locked merge input can use its own password. You can retry or cancel without changing the original.
To sign, draw a signature or choose one saved on your device, then place and size it on a page. Delete saved signatures from the signature chooser. Every tool saves a new copy; review it before sharing through Export PDF.
Scan paper into a PDF
Choose Scan to PDF on Home or Tools. Tap Scan a document to capture paper pages with automatic edge detection and crop adjustment on a supported camera, or use Choose from Photos to select existing pictures. Camera access is requested only when you choose to scan.
Review your pages, change their order, rotate or remove a picture, and enter a document name. Tap Save PDF to create a copy in your private library, then preview or export it. Scanning is free, with up to 50 pictures per scan. Scanned PDFs are image-based; OCR and searchable text are not added.
Know your output
Redaction permanently covers marked regions in the saved copy. Compression, redaction, and flattening create image-based PDFs, removing searchable text, links, and interactive fields. The separate original remains intact and may contain private information. Compression can make some files larger.
Signing preserves searchable page text and burns in the ink, existing annotations, and filled forms. It can invalidate earlier certificate signatures. PaperLock does not verify identity or provide certificate signing.
PDF operations allow up to 200 MB of input and 500 output pages; merged input sizes are combined. Scans allow up to 50 pictures and 200 MB per batch. Paid access keeps these safeguards.
Free tools and Pro
Scan, merge, split, and organize are free without a usage quota. You also get 3 successful advanced results in total, shared across the other six tools, with no daily or monthly reset. Failed or canceled operations do not spend a result; previewing or sharing saved results does not count.
Weekly and Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until canceled; Lifetime is a one-time purchase. All unlock the same advanced tools while access is active. Apple’s StoreKit supplies current localized prices and handles payment. In Settings → Explore Pro options, use Restore purchases or Manage Apple subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Lifetime does not cancel an existing subscription.
Need help?
If import fails, open the PDF in Files first and let its provider download it. For save errors, check storage and input limits. For missing paid access, check your Apple Account, retry purchase options, or restore purchases.

Never send private PDFs, signatures, document passwords, Apple Account credentials, or payment details. Support cannot recover local files or unknown PDF passwords.
